Somewhere over the Rainbow

Happy May, everyone! We’re back this month with a dose of inspiration for children’s spaces - somewhere over the rainbow. We had the chance to repaint some children’s pieces recently and wanted to share these pretties with you.

First things first, the entire range of Annie Sloan Paints and Finishes are certified toy-safe and food-safe. They have been independently tested according to strict European regulations and are completely odourless and non-toxic. They’re even safe for baby toys and furniture!

A lovely customer reached out to us to breathe new life into a perfectly functional wooden chest in her daughter’s bedroom. She wanted it to become a piece that could grow with her daughter, so something pretty but not too childlike in design. It was the perfect blank canvas for something bright, pretty and happy!

This is what we started with:

And this is where we ended up:

We’re so glad our customer decided to go BOLD with a base coat of Annie Sloan Capri Pink for a pink and mint colour scheme. It’s a piece for a little girl after all, so we added some lovely stenciled flowers, using Annie Sloan’s Meadow Flowers stencil (we’re partial to this one!) in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. Finally, we finished it off with a coat of Annie Sloan Clear Wax for protection and durability.

What a classic statement piece for a little girl’s room! It’ll store all kinds of treasures (Soft toys, blankets or treasures!), all while looking beautiful to boot!

We also got to work on refreshing an old wooden tricycle for the Rocking Horse Playhouse a little while ago. This tricycle still worked well, but it was pretty beat up. Nothing that a fresh coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint couldn’t fix though. Here are the before and after shots:

We used Annie Sloan’s Napoleonic Blue, Louis Blue and Barcelona Orange. This time, we opted to use Annie Sloan Lacquer just to give it a bit more protection. After all, kids can be hard on their toys!

Finally we have just one more idea for you featuring Annie Sloan’s new range of Satin Paint:

Annie Sloan’s new line of Satin Paint is fabulous for children’s spaces. Satin Paint gives a robust, yet beautiful soft-sheen finish on any internal wood or metallic surface. It has been specially formulated for easy application and contains self-leveling properties. What this means is that you don’t have to seal with wax or lacquer after painting! This children’s table and chair set was painted in Carnaby Yellow - it is such a quick and easy project that will add a little colour to brighten up any space!

Are you inspired yet?
